The Academic Accreditation Council participates in 5th Sheba Dental Conference

Member of the Supreme Political Council, Mohammad Al-Nuaimi, and Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Hussein Hazeb, inaugurated today the 5th Sheba Scientific Dental Conference, with wide participation.

The conference, organized over three days by Sheba University, with the participation of more than 400 participants, including students and professors of dentistry in various public and private universities from different governorates, will discuss 42 work papers, along with workshops and lectures on the latest science and technology in the field of maxillofacial surgery, orthodontics, oral and dental surgery, endodontic treatment, fixed and removable prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry.

At the inauguration, Mr. Al-Nuaimi stressed the importance of holding scientific conferences to keep pace with the rapid development and exchange experiences in various fields required by the current era to improve institutional performance and improve the educational process to ensure achieving outputs that enable bringing about a comprehensive development renaissance.

He praised the keenness of the Sheba University leadership to organize the conference for the fifth year in a row and its importance in advancing one of the important disciplines related to people health.

The senior political member pointed out that conferences are among the important practical tools for evaluating and developing the scientific, academic and research performance of universities, and the extent to which the conferences' outcomes are implemented and its reflection on society.

He called on everyone to work with will, determination, faith and determination, and to transform weaknesses and limited capabilities into strengths to achieve innovations and improve and develop performance in various fields, stressing that the country relies on the outputs of Yemeni universities to achieve a scientific development renaissance.

On his part, the Minister of Higher Education praised the keenness of Sheba University to keep pace with development and to place the field of dentistry among its priorities for scientific research, through the preparation and organization of the conference for the fifth year, along with other events, especially in light of the difficult conditions that the country is going through as a result of war.

He stressed that the conference motivates the rest of the private universities to hold similar scientific conferences that contribute to achieving the desired goals of Higher Education in the field of community service, encouraging scientific research and presenting the latest scientific findings in the field of oral and dental medicine and surgery.

Minister Hazeb referred to the Ministry's support and encouragement to hold such conferences in public and private universities that celebrates the presence of scientists and experts in one of the important medical fields that Yemen abounds in, stressing the need to benefit from the outcomes of scientific conferences and turn them into programs that student and community can benefit from.

At the conference, in the presence of the Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Dr. Ali Sharaf El-Din, the Chairman of the Academic Accreditation Council, Dr. Ahmed Al-Haboub, and the Undersecretaries of the Ministry of Higher Education and Assistant Undersecretaries, the President of Sheba University, Dr. Amr Al-Najjar, reviewed the objectives of the conference to stay up-to-date of scientific development and discoveries in the field of dentistry, exchange experiences between researchers and enable dentists conduct joint research in this field and contributing to the promotion and advancement of applied scientific research.

He stressed that holding the conference comes in the belief in the importance of education in the development of societies, and the university's keenness to advance the field of medical education, rehabilitate and develop the university's staff through training programs, enhance students' awareness of the ethics of the profession, help in self-discovery, continue learning and training to provide solutions that contribute to a comprehensive development renaissance.

In turn, the Dean of the College of Dentistry at the university - Chairman of the Scientific Committee of the Conference, Dr. Ghamdan Al-Harazi, considered the conference a unique and qualitative scientific event with the participants who represent an elite group of medical cadres and their experience that contributed to the advancement of national universities, as well as extensive Arab participation through the Zoom technology.

He added that the conference came out of the vision and objectives of the university and the College of Dentistry, showing great interest in exchanging expertise, knowledge and modern experiences, in addition to presenting advanced technologies, equipment and medical supplies in this field.

The conference was attended by the presidents of the September 21 University, the President of the Supreme Medical Council, Dr. Mujahid Maasar, president of Amran University, Dr. Dr. Khaled Al-Hawali, the presidents of private universities, the deans of dental faculties in Yemeni universities, members of the Academic Accreditation Council, the President of the Association of Private Universities, Dr. Yahya Abu Hatem, the Secretary-General, Dr. Mohammad Al-Mikhlafi, and the deans and secretary-generals of faculties at Sheba University.
